Blake:
Target has rewritten Sir Mix-a-Lot's notorious 1992 hit, "Baby Got Back," and made it the centerpiece of its back-to-school ad campaign. Says a company spokesman, "There isn't anything particularly offensive about changing the meaning of the song from 'backside' to 'backpack' -- it's a short trip. No one is particularly offended along the way, maybe someone's mom won't like it, but offending mom has been a good way to sell the kids for a long time."Me: what a great sound bite
Blake: i am horrified
Me: okay, what a "great" sound bite
Blake: there's got to be some kind of rule against taking dirty songs and making them family-friendly
Me: i've actually seen that commercial and thought to myself "really? this is where we're at now??"
Blake: what's next? Food Emporium remixing 2 Live Crew tracks to "Me So Hungry"?
This is why we're friends.
